Enroll in a 63-Hour FREC-Approved Pre-Licensing Course
The Florida Real Estate Commission (FREC) requires successful completion of a 63-hour pre-licensing course through an approved Florida real estate school. The course is available online or in a classroom, and is designed to equip you with the knowledge you need to pass your exams and launch your new career.
Even though FREC mandates a 63-hour course, many students finish the required material faster thanks to flexible scheduling. Work at your own pace or choose a set schedule that fits your personal commitments.
Complete Fingerprinting
FREC requires FDLE and FBI background checks for all license applicants. As part of that process, you must have your fingerprints taken before your application can be approved.
File Your Florida Real Estate License Application
To become a licensed sales associate, you must file an application with the Florida Department of Business & Professional Regulation (DBPR). You don't need to be enrolled in a course to submit it — file as early as possible so your application is approved and your exam can be scheduled by the time you finish your course.
Schedule Your Florida State Exam
You can schedule your state exam once the DBPR approves your application. You must pass the end-of-course exam and receive your completion certificate before you can actually take the state exam.
Pass the Sales Associate End-of-Course Exam
Before you can take the state exam, you must pass your course's final (end-of-course) exam with a score of 70% or higher.
Pass the Florida Real Estate State Exam
The final step is passing the Florida Sales Associate State Exam, which measures your understanding of the real estate principles covered in your pre-licensing course.
